The music produced by this five-piece is hard to classify – Fred Durst and co. combine hard music with samples, hip-hop and DJ Lethal (formerly of House of Pain), who is already a regular member of the band, has his share in the final sound of the band.
Hailing from the Florida town of Jacksonville, the five-piece started their stardom in 1994. They are one of the bands whose work has greatly influenced the “heavy” scene. They have sold more than 30 million copies of their albums worldwide during their tenure, with their 1999 breakthrough album, titled “Significant Other”, which spawned the hits “Nookie”, “Break Stuff” and “Re-Arranged”, selling 7.5 million copies in America alone.
The album “Chocolate Starfish and the Hotdog Flavored Water” was released a year later, and the hits “My Generation”, “Take A Look Around” (known from the soundtrack of the movie M:I-2) and “Rollin'” only strengthened their position as stars in the field of hard music. For this record, the band again received a number of awards, including MTV Europe Music Awards in the Best Group and Best Album categories. Limp Bizkit won the same award in a very unusual category – Best Website. The band simply went from success to success.
In addition to lead singer Fred Durst, guitarist and songwriter Wes Borland, known for his penchant for costumes, masks and black contact lenses, was an integral part of Limp Bizkit. The news of his departure in October 2001 was such a blow to the band and fans alike. A hiatus and endless search for an adequate replacement ensued, which eventually paid off, and guitarist Mike Smith was brought into the band. He joined the band to work on a new album, released in September 2003 and titled “Results May Vary”. Smith’s rockier sensibilities are very much in evidence on the album, and Limp Bizkit found themselves facing a new episode in their existence, but one that would not last long.
A tour followed, however, which drew mixed reactions. After the tour, Wes rejoined the band and replacement Mike immediately left Limp Bizkit. News leaked about a new EP, which was released in May 2005 under the title “The Unquestionable Truth Part 1” without much response. The title of the record gave hope that fans might see a follow-up. Instead, however, Limp Bizkit gifted them with a “Greatest Hits” selection later that year. Shortly after the release, Wes left again and the band went on hiatus for about three years….
Limp Bizkit are quietly working on “The Unquestionable Truth Part 2”, Fred is making his own movie, Sam Rivers is working with The Embraced on their first full-length record and John Otto is starting his own project called Stereochemix. The year 2009 is marked by a spectacular return to the concert stage with the original line-up and the band performs at the O2 Arena in Prague. The band will also seal their return with the new album “Gold Cobra”, which is the first album since 2003 that Limp Bizkit recorded with the original line-up.
The release of the long-awaited “Stampede Of The Disco Elephants”, which the quintet has been working on for several years and whose release has been postponed several times, is finally scheduled for this year. During the Prague concert, besides the proven hit songs, there could also be new repertoire, which fans have been eagerly looking for for a long time.
Wargasm as a special guest of Limp Bizkit on 3. 4. 2023 in Forum Karlín!
When London veteran Sam Matlock and international model Milkie Way met at a gig in Camden in early 2019, something special was born. WARGASM is a clash of two personalities that can perhaps only be compared to a battle of fire against fire. Although the project is only at the beginning of its career, its intent is clear – it’s about sound, visuals, lifestyle.
