The legendary Machine Head, who are often referred to as one of the most influential metal groups, are embarking on a tour that, in addition to the most prestigious foreign festivals, will also hit Prague on June 10. They will come to “repay the debt” to their Czech fans for the concert that did not take place in 2020, which was canceled due to the pandemic. But, paradoxically, it served them very well; the band used the unexpectedly acquired free time to prepare the new album Of Kingdom And Crown – one of the best records in their history!
The group Machine Head was formed in the American city of Oakland in 1992. It was founded by singer and guitarist Robb Flynn and bassist Adam Duce after the breakup of Flynn’s home formation Vio-Lence. Despite the uncompromising hardcore roots, the band’s work has always been characterized by a distinctive melody, for which some media later began to classify it among nu-metal formations. However, no matter what label is attributed to them, their indisputable influence on the history of metal music remains indisputable. This group deflated its standards and left its mark forever with the debut album Burn My Eyes from 1994, which became the best-selling album of the Roadrunner music stable for five years. An equally characteristic feature of Machine Head is their constant musical progress, which was confirmed by all the following nine albums. The most recent addition to their discography came in 2022 in the form of Of Kingdom And Crown – the first concept album in the history of Machine Head. With it, the band scored not only with their fans, but also with the most influential metal media, who consider it to be the return of Machine Head in their best form, the magazine Kerrang! and Metal Hammer then gave it the same rating of four stars out of five.
The Prague concert, which should bring a cross-section of Machine Head’s work, will take place on June 10 at the Karlín Forum. Tickets at a price of CZK 1,290 will be available from March 8, 11:00 a.m., in the Ticketmaster and Ticketportal networks.
