Seekers of undiscovered horizons and manufacturers of absolute MESHUGGAH in Prague are heading to the hall for the first time. MESHUGGAH in hard music is among the most inventive and creative bands of the last 30 years. They have become a model of progress and creativity and one of the most recognized and quoted names in the scene. MESHUGGAH is heading to the hall for the first time with its tremendous light show and will burn the sky from Karlín Forum.
MESHUGGAH. Unique unchanging pioneers. Legend.
In addition to their distinctive approach, their style is key to an incredible feeling for tempos, linearity of material and, above all, groove. He strongly separates them from others. MESHUGGAH simply have an incredibly capable driving force and will get the blood flowing even in a corpse, whether they play slow or fast. Regardless of your relationship with the band, you have to admit that from the very first seconds, MESHUGGAH will break your concentration and force you to fidget and sway unfocused for the duration of the listen.
Their depersonalized music, full of cybernetic forms, was once inspired by classic thrash, but already in this deep past they played it rhythmically quite twisted. Gradually slowing down and switching to multi-stringed guitars, pioneered by MESHUGGAH, the math metal they created, followed by a ton of epigones, came to be referred to as djent, even though the ‘madmen’ never actually played it.
Last year, in 2022, the ninth album “Immutable” was released, which is again full of surprising creativity, yet instantly recognizable as their work. Here, MESHUGGAH once again redefined and reshaped their sound, while maintaining the progressive principles that have always been the foundation of their artistic expression.
As we hurtle into a dystopian future, MESHUGGAH are not beholden to time and continue to create a world of their own where they stand alone in the distance. The mathematical metalsmiths from Umeå are moving forward firmly and without deviation.
Their tour guests will be THE HALO EFFECT. Even though this is a new band, it is made up of masters of their field and at the same time pioneers of the melodeath scene from Gothenburg – former members of In Flames. Both guitarists Niclas Engelin and Jesper Strömblad, rhythmic Peter Iwers (bass) and Daniel Svensson (drums), who are joined by Mikael Stanne, singer of Dark Tranquility, historically also ex-In Flames.
THE HALO EFFECT goes back to their roots in their music and once again explores how the ground-breaking “Gothenburg sound”, which influenced countless bands around the world and kicked off the birth of metalcore, sounded in the 90s. The result is a great debut “Days of the Lost”.
The second guests will be the German MANTAR, who within six years of their formation reached the Top 10 albums in their native country. But the decade-long duo manages to sound heavier than most five-piece bands you know, despite the fact that their records don’t use a bass guitar. Just drums and guitar set to destroy. Get ready for whipping beats and darkened melodies with feedback orgies and doom mayhem. Early Melvins, Motorhead, Darkthrone. Name it yourself, but this hurts.
